I Remember When Rock Was Young

In some ways I miss the good old days when you did not have to wait for a system update on a game console. You just put the cartridge in the slot and go. This evening I sat down and tried to play a PS4 game but had to wait for a system update.

Firstest of first world problems, I know, but still.

I grew up in the pre-internet connected console world, and it is slightly irritating.

Don’t get me wrong, there are some fantastic benefits to gaming today…Digital delivery of content is great if done correctly. Gone are the days of scouring every game store in your city to try and find a particular game.

I’m looking at you, The Legend of Zelda for NES!

I never did find that one at a reasonable cost, despite searching for years. Searching for years in the mid-late ’90s, mind you, so it wasn’t super rare or collectible like it is now.

I ended up finally getting the GBA version of the game.

Take My Hand Child, Come With Me

On Thursday at work I ended up spending many hours with General Carville. At the end of it, I was picking up my things. Among them was a speaker and my iPod. General Carville said that they were waiting for me to turn on the music.

I said that I was planning on turning it on so that I could get out of my own head, but when they came back to help me out, I decided not to. My reasoning was that I do not know what kind of music is their kind of music, and that there was already enough noise in the place, so I’d not add more to it if it was not going to be appreciated.

I was given a sort of specifically vague answer on Thursday.

Today I got a little more clarification on the subject. I can safely say that they would have not appreciated what I was planning to listen to…Led Zeppelin II.

You Are My Flower, You Are My Power

Starbucks

Dear Friends,

Here we are again.  More specifically, here I am again.  It has been…How many years? Five.

Five years since I last wrote anything in this space.  Funnily enough, my last post was ~5 years after the previous one.

In the mean time, I’ve moved over to Blogger and from there to WordPress.  I am primarily working out of WordPress these days.  I’m tempted to reactivate my old DiaryLand blog, or start a new one.  I’m not really sure which.  I think it would be a cool thing to do, but I’m not sure I can justify spending the money to get the thing reactivated.

But I’ve written plenty about that on WP.

I’m not sure what to write that hasn’t been covered elsewhere, so I guess I’m going to wrap this up here.

Also, I killed my Twitter.
