So here we are.


It is April 6th, 2017.


In eight days we will no longer live in a world where there is no new Mystery Science Theater 3000 to look forward to.


Since September 12, 1999 there have been no new episodes.  The Sci-Fi ( as it was still known) channel ran the last episode (which was actually something like the 3rd episode of the last season) a few weeks late since there was trouble with obtaining the rights to the movie.


In 2015 Joel ran a Kickstarter campaign to get the show restarted, and just about 18 months later here we are.

So...In the not too distant future, I will be watching some MST3K on Netflix.

Dear The Legend Of Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass,

I really, REALLY want to like you.

Seriously.  You have so much potential to be a good great game!  Your biggest drawback, however, is your ingenuity.  Your completely touchscreen based control scheme really ruins the game for me.

The fact that I have to use a cheat code to POSSIBLY (haven't gotten the game to load with the cheat activated yet) use the d-pad to move Link about makes me sad.

Hopefully when I have the patience to sit and play again, (after Windwaker again) I will be able to actually not get angry with you.

Just thought you should know.

We Opened The Window, Played Some Nintendo

Started ripping, sorry correct term is "dumping" all of my Nintendo DS games today.  Dug out an old router and laptop and started copying the carts onto it.

Again.

Takes a while to do, you know?

When The Spirit Moves You

I've been playing games again.

Mostly Gameboy Advance versions of Nintendo Entertainment System games.

More specifically The Legend Of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link.

That game enraged me as a child.

Let's just let that sink in for a minute.

Now then.  It enraged me because I did not understand the game.  I understood at a basic level the hack and slash part of the game.  But I never understood the level up concept.

Ah well, hopefully I can cheat my way through it.  If I had the time I would play Zelda through in chronological order across all of the timelines.

Pity that.

It's Been Ten Years, Half My Life

So.  It is 1am.

February 26, 2017.

What the hell am I doing?

I'm sitting here. Being stressed out for who knows why.

There are a lot of things in this world that I understand.  There are a lot of things in this world that I do not understand.  Chief among that latter list is me.  Plain and simple. I don't understand me.

I need to figure this shit out.  Like stat.

I have a wife.  I have a kid.  Rumor has it that I have another kid on the way. 

Hopefully this works out better than a few months ago, but that is another story for a different day.

It's been almost 34 years that I have been wandering on this planet.  If you go read through the archive here (well, eventually. I'm still missing several hundred entries from years past.), it would seem that my wanderings have mostly been aimless.

*NEWSFLASH*

They have been.

I honestly am not good at planning for a future.  I'm trying to start a business from home so I can quit the job I have now. Honestly, it is going rather well, I just feel like I don't have the time or motivation to work on it.  Take today for instance...I would rather research 15-20 year old Windows Operating Systems than work on my business.  Or work on my real job.

What is wrong with me?

I struggle to keep focused on whatever task is at hand in favor of whatever takes my interest at the time.

How much of that is exhaustion? Probably a lot.

Doesn't help that I feel like I've spent the better part of the last ten years getting dumber.  The wife said you tend to absorb the traits of the people you spend time with, and well...I've spent a lot of time with the people I work for.  Well.  Let's just say my feeling dumber and dumber with each passing day might not come as a shock.

Windows Millennium Edition (internally Windows 4.90) was the last in the line of DOS-based Windows products. Like Windows 95 and Windows 98 it used the same hybrid 16/32 bit kernel that ran on top of a bundled version of DOS (MS-DOS 8.0).

Windows ME was often criticized for its poor stability. Microsoft had made numerous internal changes at the device driver level. However with the news that this architecture was at an end, vendors did not update their Windows 98 drivers for Windows ME. While existing 98 drivers usually "worked", they were often buggy and unstable under ME. Additionally, users were becoming used to the increased stability of Windows 2000 (NT 5.0) and the new MacOS X.

Although Windows ME still runs on top of DOS, just like Windows versions back to 1.01, it crippled the ability to start up to or exit to DOS. Many Windows 95 and 98 users had relied on that, as many popular games and utilities were still DOS based. If you wish to set up an older computer for use with DOS programs, we recommend you use nothing later than Windows 98 SE.

Feature-wise, Windows ME changes the desktop appearance to be on par with Windows 2000. It adds Windows Movie Maker, Internet Games, System Restore, Explorer Web View, Personalized Menus, and new common dialogs.

Windows ME targeted the home market, while the NT-based Windows 2000 targeted the business market. Initiated during the Windows 2.0 days, Microsoft finally realized its dream of merging these two markets under one single, more powerful OS, with the release of Windows XP. -WinWorldpc.com
