Up Ahead In The Distance I Saw A Shimmering Light Part 2 - Brief Thoughts

Original Title: Windows Vista Screen Caps And Thoughts

Music: The Pros And Cons Of Hitch Hiking ~ Roger Waters

I went and downloaded the open Windows Vista Beta last night. Here are my opinions from the first 24 hours with the Vista.
1
Personalization Main
The main page from the Personalization Page. It looks like an HTMLesque Linux inspired page.
2a
Start Menu – At first glance it looks like something vaguely familiar.
2
Start Menu Screen 2
Clicking the "All Programs" takes you off to something truly bizzare. Instead of the menu style of Windows' past, it is more of a "Drop Down" style. Clicking on a category causes it to expand in a downward manner.
3
Personalization Screen Part 2
A Windows Vista Personalize Screen Tab Page. This was formerly the "Settings" tab-a-jigger, now just one tab on one page. Very stupid, very pointless.
4
Personalization Screen Part 3
Formerly the Appearance Manager, now just one tab on a page. Again, the pointless, single tab. Why? I know not. I prefer all of the tabs grouped on one page. Seems smarter, but that is just me
5
Make Firefox Default Browser? Yes!
Every time I open Mozilla Firefox, I get this Dialogue box. No IE open at all in between. Note the times…
6
Make Firefox Default Browser? Yes! Again!
One minute later, Firefox is still not the Default Browser!
7
Make iTunes the default media player? OOH! Bad Luck!
When attempting to set iTunes as the default player, I get an error. Error -50 no less. Did they have so many error messages that they had to start using the negative numbers?
8
Sidebar?
The sidebar is kind of cool, but it eats resources like an African kid who has not eaten for like a month.
9
Computer
The updated My Computer page. I kind of like the little bars that tell how full the drives are. Also it gives smallish amounts of computer information along the bottom of the screen.
10
Renaming a drive
Try to rename the drive, or do really anything of the sort, and you get a "You don't have permission to do such and such" dialogue box. Trick is, you click continue and it lets you go along with it anyway.

11
Go with it?
It is asking if I want to go through with the renaming of the drive, even though I don't have permission to do it. It let me do it, despite the lack of permissions. There's security if I ever heard it!
12
System Properties
The Main page of System Properties. It gives you basic system info. Processor, Networking, Ram, and of course, Windows related stuff.
13
Freecell
All of the Basic Windows games have gotten a serious face - lift. Different decks, backgrounds, and, get this, sound! Also, it gives you the option to save and restore games at exit, or anytime.
14
Solitaire
Also, a facelift from the classic Solitaire. The games look like they are updated versions from the Plus! Games pack that Microsoft released in about '99. I honestly expected for it to have been integrated into XP, but you know, whatever.
15
Minesweeper
It has sounds and colors that are not grey. Very nifty. I am impressed. Should have been done a long time ago.
After I have gotten more familiar with it, and used more of the things, I will write more stuffs about it.  Mostly in the next few days.
