This is a Windows ME Promotional Step-Up disc which only works on Windows 98 and Windows 98SE.
It is possible to do a clean install using just setup files from Win98, and I’ll do that in the next post and run all the way though, but for this one I just wanted to see the setup screens with full graphic capability.
So here we go!
Plug in the disc and we are greeted with an autorun.
Let’s do this!
Let it load whatever it loads.
Agree to some licensing terms and plug in a serial number. Very much nothing new to see here.
I really struggle to care about a startup disk. None of the ones I’ve made have ever worked.
Next comes the pretty pretty! These may or may not be in order…There are a lot of them but it really does not matter to me.
We now have files copied and a bunch of pretty pretty pictures with text to read!
Restarting…
Here we go…Moment of truth!
We have upgraded to Windows ME from Windows 98 SE AND retained settings and whathaveyou!
For my next trick we will use the same Step-Up disc and do a clean install.
That one will be spread out into many parts, I expect.
